Professional Bio

Dr. Wynne graduated from St. John Fisher College in 1988 with a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry.  He is a 1992 Graduate of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry.  He graduated Cum Laude and is one of three in his class to have received honors in academics, clinical care and class leadership.  His fourth year included rotations at the Hahnemann Medical School and John F. Kennedy Hospital in Philadelphia. 

He joined the Pittsford office in 1992 with Dr. David Jordan and Dr. Frederick Fouquet.  In 1994, he became NYS certified as a Low Vision Specialist and joined the staff of the Association For the Blind and Visually Impaired in Rochester.  In 1996, Dr. Wynne earned the title of "Fellow" in the American Academy of Optometry.  This is an honor earned by fewer than 10% of all Optometrists.  In 1997, Dr. Wynne became a Clinical Associate at Strong Hospital where he oversaw the CMV Retinitis Eyewatch Program and participated in Aids Clinical Trials Groups studies.  He also joined the infectious disease staff at Aids Community Health Network in a similar capacity. 
Dr. Wynne is very dedicated to improving and expanding his knowledge and experience base and has attended over 50 hours of continuing education each year for over 18 years. Dr. Wynne has given lectures to school groups, seniors, optometric societies and surgical residents. He has written articles for Primary Care Optometry News in the United States and Optometry Today in the United Kingdom. He was also co-author for an article published in the British Journal of Ophthalmology.  If you are looking for a passionate, dedicated practitioner who is well regarded by his peers as well as highly credentialed in his profession, you will enjoy having Dr. Wynne as your eye doctor.

Personal Bio

On the lighter side, many of his patients know Dr. Wynne as a dedicated triathlete. His "career" in triathlon began in 2009 with the Pittsford Triathlon and he was hooked as soon as he crossed the finish line. He now competes internationally at the Ironman 70.3 level. In November of 2014, he received his black belt in Muay Thai with Shogun Martial Arts in Webster. He is also a Tough Mudder Finisher.

Dr. Wynne was very involved with the Boy Scouts through his son, Peter. He was a Cub Scout den leader for 5 years with Pack 363 and an Assistant Scoutmaster with Troop 110 in Webster. Dr. Wynne proudly watched Peter obtain the rank of Eagle Scout. Peter was a dedicated member of the SparX robotics team 1126 through the two Webster high schools and was on the Science Olympiad Team.  Peter is now an Automation Engineer after graduating from Purdue University and works for a company close by in Rochester.  Dr. Wynne's daughter, Ashley, graduated from the University of Colorado in Boulder with a degree in Psychology. She still loves the mountains and spends her free time hiking and figure skating.  She currently runs her own talent agency and also has a successful photography business in Denver.  Dr. Wynne and Elizabeth are proud Papa and Gramma to Ashley’s daughter, Acadia (Cadi). Dr. Wynne has been married to his wife, Elizabeth, since 1988. Liz is the "behind the scenes" coordinator of just about everything. She is the official Office Manager and is our resident insurance "expert."
