Red Eyes

There are many causes for red eyes. The most common of which are infection, dry eye, contact lens complications, allergy, inflammation, and hemorrhage. When red eyes occur from infection the possible sources could be from bacteria, virus, or fungus. Many of these conditions require treatment with eyedrops. The sooner treatment is started the better the outcome.

It is best to contact our office right away if you have a red eye. If you are a contact lens wearer you should discontinue your contact use immediately and contact our office. We usually see any red eye emergencies that same day.
